Jarislowsky Dimma Mooney Chair

Established in 2007, the Jarislowsky Dimma Mooney Chair in Corporate Governance draws together the teaching and research strengths of Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business. The Chair contributes to the Schools’ joint expertise in corporate governance as it relates to transnational corporations and specific business regions of the world, and to teaching and research activities in the field of corporate social responsibility and sustainability.

The Chair has been held since its inception by Edward Waitzer, former Chair of the Ontario Securities Commission, a partner at Stikeman Elliott LLP, and Director of the Jay and Barbara Hennick Centre for Business and Law of which the Chair is a part.

The Jarislowsky Dimma Mooney Chair is funded by the Jarislowsky Foundation; William Dimma, former President of Toronto Star Newspapers Limited, former President, CEO and Deputy Chairman of Royal Lepage Limited, and former Dean of the Schulich School; and Gary Mooney, President and CEO of FNF Canada and a Senior Partner at Anderson Sinclair LLP.

Osler Chair in Business Law

Established in 2007, the Osler Chair in Business Law enhances Osgoode Hall Law School’s considerable faculty strength in business law. The law firm’s donation was topped up by York University and Osgoode to raise a total of $2 million for an endowment in scholarship and teaching in business law.

The Chair is currently held by Cynthia Williams, Professor at Osgoode and a Co-Director of the Hennick Centre for Business and Law. Professor Williams also held the Chair from 2007-2009. Prior to joining the faculty at Osgoode, Professor Williams was a faculty member at the University of Illinois College of Law and practiced law at Cravath, Swaine and Moore LLP in New York. Professor Williams writes in the areas of securities law, corporate law, corporate responsibility, comparative corporate governance and regulatory theory.
