A Transition Financing Taxonomy for Canada - Insights from the Global Climate Bond Initiative
Canada is currently developing a ‘made-in-Canada’ transition finance taxonomy that recognizes the heavy dependence of the economy on natural resources and other high carbon-emitting sectors. Funded by Canada’s major banks, pension funds and insurance companies, the Canadian Standards Association’s Transition and Sustainable Finance Committee is expected to release its ‘express document CSAR1200’ in June 2020, providing a classification tool for transition-based financial instruments.
